Challenge
Stomach cancer is the third most common cause of death in Japan, but awareness about it is very low. Many people think it’s not their problem and don’t take steps to prevent it. On top of that, most people find the idea of getting a checkup intimidating because they don’t fully understand the process. The challenge was to create a campaign that shows how simple it can be to get tested for Helicobacter pylori, a key cause of stomach cancer.
Idea
We designed an innovative adhesive bandage called "Pylori CHECK-AID." Like any regular bandage, it protects wounds from friction and bacteria. But it also works as a tool for testing Helicobacter pylori. Users send the blood absorbed by the bandage to a designated hospital and receive their results by email. If the test is positive, the email will provide information on the nearest clinic for follow-up. This simple solution makes testing easier and encourages early detection of stomach cancer.
